Undergraduate Program in Sociology - Understanding and explaining society
Description of the program
The undergraduate program in Sociology leads to the conferment of a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree, a first higher education degree qualifying for a profession. The primary goal is to prepare students for the various job possibilities as sociologists. The B.A. program includes fundamentals in sociological theory, the analysis of social structures as well as methods of social empirical research.
The program is further oriented towards specific fields of activity and students are empowered to create individual profiles through specialization within their course of study. Graduates are, consequently, well prepared for the job market as well as for further academic education.
The major fields of study are closely related to the research focus of Sociology at the University of Bamberg. This ensures the content of study to be relevant, up to date, and future-oriented.
