Teaching
Studying at the Chair of Political Science, especially Digital Transformation prepares you to conceptualize, measure, explain, and shape digital change in both academic and professional contexts.
We train students to independently investigate questions about society's handling of the digital transformation. This includes questions about the successful management of digital change, changes in social structures, risk perception among the population, or the effect of information and persuasion campaigns.
Our courses emphasize guidance for independent theory-driven, empirical research. This includes instructions for theory-driven empirical work, for example in the use of advanced computer-aided, data-intensive methods but also in the form of surveys, experiments, or text analyses.
The background knowledge for our courses is introduced in the lecture Digital Media in Politics and Society. The lecture is offered regularly in the winter semester in a flipped classroom design. Students can also work on the content discussed here asynchronously via the course website or the podcast accompanying the event.
You can attend our courses in the BA and MA courses of Bamberg Political Science. We are particularly involved in the Bachelor Computational Economics and Politics (CEP) and the Master of Arts in Political Science with a focus on Computational Social Sciences (CSS).
Theses
We supervise bachelor and mast theses and offer a seminar for theses. Please register your interest in this seminar at the beginning of the semester in the secretariat of the chair.
