Profile
Dr. Tom Gross is full professor and founding chair of Human-Computer Interaction at the University of Bamberg, Germany since 1 March 2011.
His main research focus is Human-Centred Computing (Human-Computer Interaction HCI, Computer-Supported Cooperative Work, and Ubiquitous Computing).
Here he has taken an active role in national and international research projects, is author of numerous publications and speaker at international conferences, as well as chair and organiser of scientific conferences and events and member of various program committees.
He has been teaching Human-Computer Interaction HCI, Computer-Supported Cooperative Work, and Ubiquitous Computing at various European universities and given keynote talks and tutorials at international conferences. He is Germany’s official representative of Human-Computer Interaction in the TC.13 on Human-Computer Interaction of the IFIP.
From 2003 to 2011 he was professor and chair of Computer-Supported Cooperative Work at the Bauhaus-University Weimar, serving as a vice-president from 2008 to 2010, and on leave for a sabbatical at the University of California, Irvine, from September 2010 to February 2011. In 2003 he received his Habilitation in Applied Computer Science from the University of Linz, Austria.
