Marco Meier
M.Sc - Information Systems
Marco Meier is a research assistant at the Chair of Information Systems, Health and Society in the Digital Age. Before that, he was a research assistant in the DFG project ? Wie aus Nutzern Ex-Nutzer werden: Schocks und Unzufriedenheit als Ursache für das Beenden der Nutzung einer Plattform und das Wechseln zu einem anderen Anbieter“ (437092197), which was affiliated with Prof. Dr. Christian Maier at Ludwig-Maximilians-Universit?t München.
He studied Information Systems (B.Sc.) at the Technische Hochschule Nürnberg and then moved to the Otto-Friedrich University of Bamberg for the master’s program in Information Systems. During his master’s studies, he spent a semester abroad at the National Taipei University of Technology in Taiwan. In addition to his studies, he worked at DATEV eG for six years, first as a working student and then as a product manager. In 2022, he was a visiting researcher at McGill University in Montreal, Canada, for which he received a scholarship from the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) for International Research Visits for Computer Scientists (IFI). Since 2023, he has been funded by the Graduate Center für Doctoral Students of the Bavarian Research Institute for Digital Transformation (bidt).
Marco’s research focuses on the use of digital technologies in private (e.g., chatbots, video-on-demand services) and organizational contexts (e.g., telework, information security). His work has been published in journals including Information Systems Journal (ISJ), Communications of the Association for Information Systems (CAIS), and Internet Research and proceedings of conferences including ICIS, ECIS, HICSS, AMCIS, and SIGMIS CPR. His research was, among others, awarded the Magid Igbaria Outstanding Conference Paper of the Year Award at SIGMIS CPR 2022 and nominated for the Claudio Ciborra Award at ECIS 2021. Among others, his work is funded by the Dr. Hans Riegel Foundation. He is involved in the IS community as a reviewer for renowned journals (e.g., ISR, ISJ, EJIS, BISE) and conferences (e.g., ICIS, ECIS).
In university teaching, Marco is responsible for the courses Digital Privacy and Digital Change Management. Additionally, he supervises seminar papers, bachelor's, and master's theses, and serves as subject advisor for the master's program in International Information Systems Management.
