Research

Currently I am working on the project ?Data Mining: Field Data Analysis in the Automotive Industry”.

In this project we apply, enhance and develop new methods for the integration and analysis of warranty data and onboard / offboard diagnostics information.
In my PhD thesis I try to use background knowledge to assess and validate patterns extracted from data. The main focus is on the automotive domain. Our goal is to support the engineer in narrowing down the root cause of a specific issue.

My major research interests include:

  • Knowledge Discovery in Databases (KDD), esp. association rules, decision trees and bayesian networks
  • Causal validation
  • Usage of background knowledge for the assessment and evaluation of patterns
  • Integration of OLAP reporting and Data Mining
  • Applied Knowledge Discovery
