Visa regulations for Germany
To find information on the current visa regulations for Germany, check the website of the Federal Foreign Office ("Ausw?rtiges Amt"). Make sure you apply for the correct visa since changing the visa is not possible and you will have to return to your home country to apply for the correct visa again. Please note that the university cannot influence any of these regulations or interfere with visa procedures.
Blocked account
To obtain a German visa, applicants from certain countries are required to open a blocked bank account ("Sperrkonto"). The website of the Federal Foreign Office ("Ausw?rtiges Amt") provides information on the process.
As of January 2023, the yearly sum for blocked accounts has been raised to 11.208€. Please always check your visa specifications!
Knowledge of German
Even though you won't need any German skills to follow the academic programme of the MA EAS, be aware that legal and administrative documents are mostly in German (German is the only legally binding language in Germany). Please ask our specialised tutors for help with administrative tasks (e.g. business with the town hall) that involve a proficient level of German.
