First semester Introduction Days (EETs) of the Faculty of Social Sciences, Economics and Business Administration

Welcome to the Introduction Days of the SoWi faculty!

Dear first semester students,

as part of our First Semester Introduction Days (EETs), we offer you a range of events and activities to help you get started with your studies and in Bamberg.

In our view, the most important event is the timetable tutorial on Tuesday, which is offered for all study programs. We strongly recommend that you attend this tutorial as it will help you to start your studies in a stress-free and organized way!

We also recommend that you attend as many events as possible to ensure the best possible start to your student life.

Please remember to have your BA number and password for the EETs with you. If you do not yet have a BA number, please read the FAQs below to find out what to do!

We recommend that you download your timetable directly so that you always have it to hand. However, please check again shortly before the EETs to see if there have been any changes!

Tips, links and documents

The Feki has a bus stop directly in front of the main building (University/FEKI), the bus runs every 15 minutes on weekdays. If you arrive by car, you will find a parking lot at the Feki behind the university's IT service building. There is an entrance from the street, right next to the main building, or you may be lucky and get a parking space right in front of the building. There are also plenty of bike racks available. The cafeteria and canteen are open during the EETs. The menu usually includes vegetarian and vegan dishes (see online menu). Remember that you need to top up your student ID card before you can pay. You can do this in the student restaurant (main entrance straight ahead) or in the entrance area of the campus library (TB3).

In order to keep track of the various online services of the University of Bamberg, the student representation offers you a short link collection with all relevant links.

During the EETs, some presentations will be uploaded to this website. So you can read the important information at any time.

Contact us

SoWi student council

The SoWi student council represents the students of the faculty. We see it as our task to always help you in an uncomplicated way. A short e-mail (fachschaft-sowi.stuve@uni-bamberg.de) or a visit to our office (F21 / 00.18) will usually answer most questions.

The student council also contributes to social life outside the university. To this end, we organize events such as the mulled wine bar, where you can also get in touch with professors, the SoWi games evening, our summer barbecue and we support the SoWi summer party. To make sure you don't miss anything and are always up to date, you can join our e-mail list or follow us on Instagram.

Degree program advisory service

Do you have a question about a specific degree program? The academic advisors are the right point of contact for questions about the course structure and specific module questions. In addition to subject-specific advice, the advisors also offer help with problems related to learning difficulties or work techniques, for example. You can also contact the academic advisors and clarify together whether you can have credits from a previous degree course recognized. Typically, the subject advisors are also lecturers in the respective subject.

Central Student Advisory Service (ZSB)

If you have any general questions about your studies - whether at the beginning, in the middle or at the end of your studies - please contact the Central Student Advisory Service. They will help you with all your concerns and problems relating to your studies. You can find more detailed information on the website of the Central Student Advisory Service.

Help and FAQ

What do I have to do before it starts on 07.10.?

Nothing really. The priority should be to manage the move and get used to the city. Enjoy the break!

From Monday, October 7th, it is important to take part in the events we offer (see above). There we will provide you with the most important information.

Please note: You don't have to have a timetable yet, and you don't have to be familiar with the IT infrastructure. We will help you plan and understand everything in the first week. Don't worry about anything. If you have any questions, just contact us!

We recommend that you follow us on Instagram and check your university emails (i.e. your @stud.uni-bamberg.de email address) regularly. We also have an e-mail distribution list to keep you up to date.

I don't have any university login details yet. What should I do?

That shouldn't be a problem. Come to the events and listen to everything so that you are ready to start and can set up and take care of everything after sending the registration data.

I have questions about timetabling or certain modules.

Please wait for the timetable tutorial on Tuesday, October 8th. You will have enough time to ask any questions there. If there are any unanswered questions before the timetable is drawn up, please contact us by e-mail.

I cannot be on site at the time of the EETs.

Too bad, but we can do it! In this case, you should take a close look at the information material on the website. You should also pay close attention to everything you have received for enrollment. Unfortunately, we cannot offer a timetable tutorial for individuals, but we will be happy to help you if you have any questions. Just send us an e-mail or give us a call.

I have already studied in Bamberg. How important is the freshman orientation for me?

In this case, you are already familiar with the online tools, timetabling and the city. That's great!
Nevertheless, we recommend that you take part in the following events:
In the subject introduction on Tuesday, you will get the most important information about your degree program and don't have to struggle through the module handbook and the examination regulations, although we recommend that too! The social events are important because you can get in touch with students in your degree program, and in some cases also with lecturers. So be sure to come along!
