DFG Network Post-Ottoman Transformations:
This network project focuses on the social, economic and political transformations that took place after the end of Ottoman rule in various regions of the Balkans, Anatolia and the Arab world. In contrast to the still predominant national historiography of the countries in question, the end of the Ottoman period is not conceptualized as a rupture, but rather the continuities of developments that began during the Ottoman period and the common or similar experiences of post-Ottoman societies are examined. The network offers its twenty members as well as selected guests the opportunity to present and further develop ongoing research projects within the framework of a total of six workshops. The results will be made available to the public in a special journal issue and a German-language podcast.
