As part of the 'Light Protection' research project, the Bavarian State Office for the Preservation of Monuments is producing sample panels. These include a data logger for temperature, relative humidity and light. The University of Bamberg team tested the accuracy of the data loggers for temperature and relative humidity in the climatic test chamber.

The XXXI International Colloquium of the Corpus Vitrearum and the XII International Forum for the Conservation and Technology of Historic Stained Glass took place in Erfurt from 15 July to 19 July 2024. The Chair of Restoration Science was represented with the contribution "Documenting with shadows: On the visualisation of production features in stained glass windows". The picture shows the choir of Erfurt Cathedral.

Leander Pallas monitoring in the university auditorium. For several years now, the Professorship for Materials and Preservation Science has been recording sample areas of the wall paintings at irregular intervals and comparing the data virtually. In this way, changes can be documented.

The ageing tests on mock-ups of historical materials will continue in 2024. More on this at the final event of the research project "Development and exemplary application of an 'in situ' humidification method with monitoring concept using the example of an anthropogenically damaged large-format wooden panel painting" on 14/15 March 2024 in Freising.
