Course Background: ?

In the past, clear organizational boundaries helped employees identify with their companies, fostering loyalty, unity, and collective effort towards corporate goals. Today, Platformization blurs these boundaries within and between organizations. Internally, digital platforms enable remote work and distributed teams, creating distance among employees and their organizations. Externally, platforms used in Customer Relation Management and Supply Chain Management interconnect processes across different companies. The rise of gig work and freelancing further disrupts traditional employer-employee relationships. This raises an important question: As digital platforms reshape organizational boundaries, what will the future of organizations look like??

Course Objective: ?

Students will investigate how individuals currently perceive the future of organizations through interviews. Do employees expect to work for a specific company or be part of a larger ecosystem? What roles do they envision, especially with the rapid advancement of AI and the changing nature of work? This seminar offers students an opportunity to explore how an increasingly digital work environment is currently organized and what this might imply for the future of Organizations.?

Examination:

The seminar is an individual examination that consists of two parts:?

• A written seminar paper (12 pages text): 2/3 of the grade?
• An oral presentation of your work, answering questions, and participating in the discussion of other presentations: 1/3 of the grade?

The language for the seminar papers, presentations, and discussions is English.

The official start of the seminar is in the first week of the semester, October 16th
