Dear new students,
The following is a rough summary of all the things that we think are (or could be) important to know for first-year students to get their new studies off to a good start. We have also set out to provide you with helpful reminders of basics that are easy to lose from sight amid the overwhelming masses of information you may have received during events like Freshers' Information Days (EET) or in tutorials.
However, we still strongly recommend you participate in the new student orientation events. The following pages can only provide you with information; it cannot provide contacts.
We have divided this info into two sections: The first is “All about the uni”, which—as the name suggests—mainly deals with the key issues at the beginning of your studies (timetable, places of study, etc.). The second part contains information about life in Bamberg and non-university matters (housing, registering a change of address, and so on).
At the University of Bamberg, there are a variety of advisory services for students (e.g. IT support, addiction counselling, pastoral care or data protection) in addition to Student Representation, but also for (prospective) employees in academia. The Studierendenwerk Würzburg (student services) also offers psychotherapeutic counselling, legal advice, and social counselling.
If you have any further questions, suggestions or criticism, please write to the Office of the Student Representation at studierendenvertretung(at)uni-bamberg.de or contact your respective student representatives.
